There Are Three Things That Stuck Out In College Basketball

College Basketball

Three things were quite prominent in College Basketball. Last Saturday one team proved that they can compete against the BIG-10. Among other popular stories, North Carolina penetrated the game once again with a win. In the end, it is time to crown the new No. 1 for the sixth time this season.

  1. No.18 upsets No. 1 Kansas 56-55: Technically, the match scores declare an upset. Nevertheless, the odds-makers in Las Vegas had Kansas as 1½ point favorite. This game wasn’t a normal one at all. Both teams combined to shoot 13-of-54 from the three-point line. Understandably, College Basketball moved the three-point line further back. However, these boys must learn the tricks required to play in the paint. It is the fifth time that the No. 1 team went down. Everything started on the opening night when No. 2 Kentucky upset No. 1 Michigan State. Similarly, Evansville upset No. 1 Kentucky, and then Duke acquired the No. 1 spot. After that, Stephen F. Austin rocked their world. Finally, Louisville took over the top spot but go knocked out by Texas Tech. From the results, it is safe to declare that Kansas is among the No. 1 victims that took the fall.

  1. Ohio State is a team worthy of winning the BIG-10: Ohio State is the legitimate contender in the BIG-10. They can also win it with their excellent team. Ohio State already won three times and quite impressively. They defeated Villanova, Kentucky, and North Carolina. They also beat the Wildcats on Saturday with a score-line of 71-65. The coach of the team Chris Holtmann said that the group can compete within the conference and with Big East, ACC, and SEC. They have been winning games without doing anything fanciful.

  1. North Carolina is adjusting with the problem associated with the missing player Cole Anthony: The Tar Heel broke their four-game losing streak against UCLA on Saturday 74-64. They played without Cole Anthony who is an essential cog in their well-oiled machine. Anthony had an average of 19.1 points every game before stepping out with a partially torn meniscus. He didn’t undergo an arthroscopic procedure. Hence, will be out for at least four to six weeks. Nevertheless, UNC played extremely well with five players in double figures against UCLA. Armando Bacot secured 15 points, Garrison Brooks got 12 points, Brandon Robinson scored 12 points, Jeremiah Franco got 12 points, and Anthony Harris earned 14 points.

To conclude

All the games played in College Basketball had a February-March type mentality. Already five number one teams went down before the New Year arrived. Also, teams such as Stephen F. Austin entered Cameron indoor and upset Duke and shook the world of College Basketball. Finally, UNC lost to Wofford for a second time. Ohio State further proved that they can compete in the BIG-10 as well as nationally. The bottom line is that anything can happen in conference plays. However, if other number-one teams fall like November leaves or not is something that only the future can tell.
