JEE Advanced is the single-most-important exam for aspiring engineering students who want to build an illustrious career. Passing the exam will make you eligible in getting admitted to any of the IITs, at various locations in India. The level of passing marks that you obtain is a deciding factor of to which particular IIT you are getting admitted.
Know the syllabus thoroughly
Studying without a definite plan will not help you in cracking JEE Advanced. You must have clear ideas about the syllabus and the weight given to each section by the concerned authorities. It is highly important to know the crucial topics that you must cover in order to get the passing marks and beyond. Locating the scoring chapters and key topics is one of the most significant strategies in the preparation of JEE Advanced.
Topics in Physics
Segregating the scoring topics and chapters into subjects and further dividing them into broad categories will make the work more organized and manageable for you. In the case of Physics, you need to concentrate on Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Photoelectric Effect, Magnetic Effects of Current, and the likes. Relatively easier questions also come from the topic covering Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Current.
Further topics in Physics
Besides the topics generally centered on electricity and current effects in the previous paragraph, you also need to practice objective questions on Ray Optics, Rotational Motion, and Laws of Thermodynamics. Moreover, don’t neglect Properties of Matter and Fluid Mechanics if you seriously want to score easily. Atomic Structure in Modern Physics and Center of Mass Conversation of momentum and collision are other important topics in this context.
Topics in Chemistry
Besides Physics, you also need to equally focus on Chemistry topics and relevant scoring chapters. Concentrate on topics chapters like Coordination Compounds, Chemical thermodynamics, Electrochemistry, Alcohols and Ethers, and p-block elements. Practice lots of multiple-choice questions on these chapters.
Further topics in Chemistry
To further strengthen your chances to get selected in the IITs through JEE Advanced, you also need to particularly stress on Carbonyl Compounds chapter, especially the one with topics on Aldehydes and Ketones, Hydrocarbons chapter explaining about Alkanes, Alkenes, and Alkynes. Don’t forget to practice questions from fundamental topics such as Chemical bonding and Molecular Structure.
Topics in Mathematics
Don’t let Mathematics intimidate you. If you approach the chapters strategically, it is possible to extract high marks. Particularly concentrate on Calculus. Lots of scoring opportunities are there in topics like Continuity and Differentiability, Area under Curves, Application of Derivatives, and Definite Integration.
Further topics in Mathematics
Besides the topics mentioned above, you must tactfully practice objective questions on the parabola, circle, 3-D Geometrical System, Matrices and Determinants, and Vector. Also, another scoring topic is Parabola, from which you are bound to get some questions. It is also essential to practice questions for chapter Sequence and Series.
Studying textbooks and questions banks
It is important to know about the right books that will provide you a huge supply of pertinent multiple-choice questions. Lots of practice is required in order to understand whether you have understood a topic or not, and how expert you are on it. Reading NCERT books thoroughly is highly recommended. Also, you must strictly follow one or two reference books and question banks on each subject.
