Not for the 1st or 2nd time, but Melania Trump has filed her 3rd defamation lawsuit against Daily Mail, the renowned online publisher. This was because the daily had printed an article in which they had claimed her to be an “Escort”. Melania claims that the article had ruined the opportunity of cashing in on the presidency.
She claims that the online conduct of Mail Online was outrageous and extreme and false blames were put in that the First Lady of the US had worked as a prostitute earlier. This defamation case was filed yesterday under the guidance of Melania’s lawyer, Charles Harder. He is the same lawyer who had won the $140 million verdict of Hulk Hogan and had won it against Gawker.
The Manhattan suit read “Plaintiff had the unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as an extremely famous and well-known person…to launch a broad-based commercial brand in multiple product categories, each of which could have garnered multi-million dollar business relationships for a multi-year term during which plaintiff is one of the most photographed women in the world. These product categories would have included, among other things, apparel, accessories, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, hair care, skin care and fragrance,” according to the $150 million filing.”
The suit also made allegations that the statements are counted among defamation because they have affected her fitness, which in turn hampered her duties as the first lady of US.
3 days back, a similar claim was filed against a Maryland Judge against Mail Online. Yes, it was against a blogger who had written something similar.
The Manhattan suit stated that troubling questions and naked photoshoots were just too many. The article also read that the model worked for some escort agency and had catered to all wealthy men. The suit says that this story was completely false and Melania had never ever entered this sex business.
Further it read that owing to the defamatory statements against Melania, she has lost a lot of business opportunities and her brand has lost great value. This also cause too many hassles in her operations; if this wouldn’t have happened, she would have been very successful in her business.
Let’s see what the verdict is; however, such defamatory statements are very wrong, don’t you think so? What action do you think will be taken for this? Do share your views in our comments section below.
