Take showers

Take showers adding apple cider vinegar to the water. Prepare an earth-friendly solution by adding add 1/4th cup of apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle and fill the remainder with water and spritz away to your heart’s content. Oatmeal baths can soothe itchy, iterated and dry skin. Don’t forget to add some essential oils such as chamomile and lavender to relieve the stinging pain, to help ease irritation from sunburn you can add baking soda to the tub water.

Take cool compress and use lotions

An Aloe Vera gel and lotion does wonders for soothing and moisturizing sunburnt skin and helps in lessening the peeling of skin. They contain lidocaine that has pain relieving properties. Apply cool compress using Burow’s solution to comfort and soothe the skin.

Rehydration and Medication

Drink lots of water, juices, fluids in the form of sports drinks, etc. and apply hydrocortisone creams (OTC) over the sunburnt areas to relieve any pain, itching, and swelling. Use popping pills containing ibuprofen or naproxen for to reduce inflammation.

Utilizing home-made stuff

Applying products like milk and yogurt using a clean cloth can be healing. Appling mashed and grated chilled cucumbers to the affected area can bring relief as they have analgesic properties. Using freshly brewed cooled mint black tea is also helpful. It contains tannic acid which helps to restore the PH balance of the skin. Cold tea bags with water, mashed potatoes, and cornstarch slurry also help soothe sunburns.

The magic potion-Coconut oil and Vitamin E

Coconut is the wonder fruit when it comes to curing sunburn. The oil and non-concentrate coconut water have miracle properties that heal the charred skin. The coconut water helps replenish your body, of the lost electrolytes during sweats and nourishes the skin that is dehydrated or baked in the sun. Also, another wonderful product is Vitamin E that when mixed with coconut oil gives moisture.

A few tips and you are good to go

It is advisable not to use make-up or acne-medications for several days after getting sunburned. Use a higher SPF sunscreen and discontinue products with oil and alcohol base. Also, do not step out in the sun if the skin has not healed properly or there is a presence of the previous sunburn’s swellings and itching. Protect yourself and enjoy the summers.
