The healthcentric question for the millennial’s

As far as the reports say, the millennials are not really focussing on the diet. They believe in various electronic sources and platforms for keeping well. The fact is, they are not at all oriented to take long term care of their health. It is true that they love to go to the gym, but the priority of having sound health has shifted backwards.

Lesser priority
Pundits and experts have shown through data that the previous generation was healthier than the millennials at the same age. The surveys conducted by various top agencies reveal that the youth today earn lesser salaries than they aspire, and in the process, health takes a backseat. Most of the millennials love to travel. Their next spending is on dining out and partying. The third option is investing in electronic gadgets. Keeping well does not feature anywhere. Not to mention, they rarely focus on saving a portion of what they earn.

Many millennials consider life to be full of thrills and concentrating on a regular diet would somehow come in the way to enjoy life to the fullest extent. For them, it is a far better idea to enjoy life as in a more liberating way.

Influenced by word of mouth opinions
Perhaps the greatest influencing source for the millennials is a word of mouth opinion. They trust the opinions and views that are making rounds. If one of their close friends says that eating out at a specific restaurant is a cool thing to do, they would definitely try it without digging much into the service details.

Influenced by various blogs and article sites
The content published in different blogs and articles heavily influences the millennials. They look forward to opinions that are propagated by someone like them, and not by a subject-matter expert or an experienced professional. If a celebrity writes something about a food or protein shake in a blog, they would blindly believe it, without looking deeper about its utility, results and tentative side-effects.

Influenced by social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram
The millennial generation is fond of education themselves from whatever sources that they find conducive without judging its credibility. If a celebrity posts a video about specific food items on Twitter or uploads a high-definition colorful photo on Instagram, the millennial boy or girl will quickly get impressed by it. It is not about the real value of the food, but about the way, it has been represented online by a known and loved face.

Getting millennials genuinely interested in health
Is it too difficult to get the millennial generation truly interested in staying fit and about the long-term benefits of sound health? There should be sincere efforts that strive for making the young men and women try to figure out the essence of a diet and not merely wellness influenced by online media platforms. The brands and celebrities can take a deep dive in these efforts in increasing awareness and help them out to seriously consider being healthy a top priority.
