How to Spice Up Your Living Space with Seasonal Decor

Times Are Always Changing

Home decoration shouldn’t remain “static”. You change, the seasons change, and you’ve got to renovate your home on occasion for the sake of property stability. You might as well lean into that reality. Since the times are always changing, adjust your home’s décor to reflect these changes.

There are a lot of ways you can go about this. Some homemakers prefer to totally transform the house about every three months. Some have one or two “spots” they update as the times change. Different options may resonate with one person over another. Here we’ll briefly explore four ideas for seasonal living space décor to spice up your home this year.

1. Natural Decorative Options

You can’t beat that great artist in the sky who designed flowers, trees, fruits, and the vast cavalcade of wildlife that differs across the planet. So instead of trying to have interior décor that outdoes the natural world, maybe bring the natural world inside. Here’s a link with some information on seasonal flowers, and these are a perfect year-round decorative option.

Winter has poinsettias, spring and summer have a variety of flowers that bloom at different times of the year, and there are plants that come into full ripeness around autumn, too. Maybe bring a few of your favorite seasonal flowers into the living room.

2. Decor That Incorporates “Treats”

Look, who doesn’t want a snack every now and again? Most commonly, autumn and winter see décor like this. Maybe you’ve got a little bowl with earthy colors full of candy corn. Okay, maybe not candy corn. Let’s say…peanut butter cups. Candy corn—well hey, some people like it, right? Maybe you’re one of those people and a bowl of candy corn is perfect.

There is this to consider: nobody’s going to eat it, so you could use the same bowl of candy corn as a decorative centerpiece for decades. We do not recommend that, it’s more of a tongue-in-cheek joke, but you get the idea. Some treats that won’t be eaten are fine for décor.

In autumn, a bowl of candy is good. Christmas is good for advent calendars, spring is ideal for Easter candies in a basket full of fake green grass. For summer, a fruit bowl is excellent.

3. Lighting: an LED Strip That Follows the Seasons

You can find these strips anywhere from $5 to $5,000; this link has options starting at $10. It all depends on your budget. Some can be programmed to automatically change light arrangements based on the passage of time, or other factors. Basically, you mount these lights throughout a room and use a smartphone or remote control to change colors.

So if it’s Christmas, you can turn on the green and red lights. For summer, you might pull in the yellow and orange hues as well, then leave things on orange, red, and yellow during autumn.

4. Devote One Area of a Room (or Rooms) to Seasonal Decor

Decorating the whole house is a big chore even if you only have a small home. For a lot of homemakers, the move is identifying one room, or specific areas throughout the home, where seasonal décor is subbed out at intervals. If you’ve got a lot on your plate and decoration overwhelms you, this may be the way to go.

A Living Room That Changes as the Times Do

Seasonal décor, LED lighting following seasonal changes, decoration incorporating treats, and natural decorative options all represent ways you can make your living space feel festive at any time during the year. Everybody has their own perspectives on this, perhaps mix-and-match suggestions from this list to find what’s best for your home.
