EURO 2020 Qualifying: Germany Hit Northern Ireland For Six

Germany’s football team, under the tutorship of Joachim Low, ended the year 2019 successfully. They fought and won the top position in their group to qualify for the 2020 EURO Cup. The team of Germany has Serge Gnarby to thank for the phenomenal result. Serge Gnarby scored a hat-trick on the night when the team of Germany went behind early. Then, they made an amazing comeback to fulfill an early deficit. In the end, they eased past Northern Ireland, a statistically inferior team.

The excitement began to boil when Michael Smith scored a phenomenal long-range drive. It sent the already loud visiting fans into a fit of passion. Eventually, Germany carved their way back into the game with Gnarby’s witty turn-and-shot.

Later in the match, Leon Goretzka slid in and converted Jonas Hector’s low cross to give Germany the lead just before halftime. They added another goal within two minutes after the break, and it came from Gnarby’s foot again. This player of Bayern Munich drilled in a low shot inside the box, ending the contest.

However, the story doesn’t end here. Further events were to follow that would allow the home crowd to cheer even more. The third goal from Gnarby was a neat one. It allowed him to complete his hat-trick and make the evening memorable. Goretzka earned his second goal through a superb low drive. The final goal came from Julian Brandt. He gave a rather subdued performance throughout the match. However, he added his name on the score-sheet with a beautiful late goal.

The full-time verdict

2019 went very well for Germany, and they closed the calendar with a convincing and classy win over Northern Ireland. The opening goal forced in by Smith made the home fans upset, but the game was far from over. The first goal served to set the small flame into a blazing fire, and it catalyzed the performance of the hosts. Joachim Low’s team should feel quite confident after their 6-1 against a disciplined and deep-lying Northern Ireland. However, their international class and quality came to the forefront. It was visible from the performance given by Serge Gnarly. It sent his rising stock bolting and breaking through the roof.

Pre-match discussions with Toni Kroos

Before the game began, Kroos stood before the media. He turned his gaze towards the bigger picture when the press wanted to know whether Germany was one of the favorites in EURO 2020. He said, “You need six or seven players playing at the highest level to win a tournament like the EUROs and we’ve got to see whether we’re capable of that.”

Pre-match discussions with Joachim Low

I’m expecting a lot of crosses from Northern Ireland, and Stark has only been able to train partially for the last couple of days. I really want to give Stark his debut, so if I get the chance tonight, I will.”
