Why Do Keywords Affect Your SEO

To generate targeted traffic, the choice of keywords used for your content is essential. How do they affect your visibility?

Let’s face it. Google has ushered in a new era: that of content. This content is the main element of your site but also what will allow it to produce traffic.

Your positioning and your traffic will depend on its relevance to internet search engine searches. The choice and position of your keywords should therefore not be taken lightly since they will directly influence the visits to your site.

We explained to you the importance of keywords in your SEO strategy and above all, how to choose relevant keywords. But do you know to what extent their use will impact your positioning? This is what I suggest you see right away.

They allow you to feed and optimize the content of your blog

As we reminded you in the introduction, we have entered an era of content, and what could be more practical than offering content to your visitors through a blog. To feed it, it is necessary to determine what could interest your readers and your future customers, to know what they are looking for on the web according to your activity of course, and to insert keywords.

Defining a list of relevant keywords that you can decline will allow you to find a multitude of content ideas for your articles. Indeed, what could be more frustrating than finding yourself in front of a blank sheet of paper to research on which subject to write. Moreover, to avoid your pen failures, we offer you  10 infallible tips to find new topics.

For example, if we took the query “SEO Company” we could decline to “Choosing the right SEO company”, “Website redesign and SEO”, “Reasons to hire an SEO company”. As much targeted content as questions that Internet users ask themselves and variations of your keyword.

According to their relevance, Google will rank in its results the pages that it considers to correspond best to the queries that Internet users type and thus position your content in a good place.

In addition, all of this content will promote the work of the long tail  (explained below), essential for good SEO.

They feed the long tail

You have certainly heard of this principle and if you haven’t, we remind you of it here. The long tail (or long-tail in English) is a principle initially used in economics but has been applied to natural referencing. It designates the keywords that are little used, highly targeted, made up of synonyms, and not very competitive, which therefore generate little traffic but the accumulation of which can show a relatively major part on your website.

This long tail is essentially made up of requests of at least 3 words and is constantly evolving. If we go back to our example of “website redesign”, “Preparing for website redesign” could be part of the long tail.

As you can see from the graph, up to 80% of a site’s traffic can be generated by all of these highly-targeted queries (your long tail) and only 20% by the most popular words. So do not neglect your preparatory work to choose your keywords and especially to decline them. This ties in with the previous paragraph.

They allow you to create your tree structure

The quality of the tree structure of a site is one of the keys to good natural referencing. Thanks to it, you will be able to define the silos that are so important for the positioning of a site in the results of search engines such as Google. To put it simply, for each main keyword (large and competitive), you determine a tree structure of pages that will include this main keyword and its variations.

Thus, effectively determining your keywords will allow you to categorize and sub-categorize them. And magic, you can build your entire site structure on it. Thus, with your different keywords, you will get your menus and sub-menus for your site. Each page will then have unique content that search engines will appreciate.

In addition, if your website is not organized properly your visitor may give up their search and turn to another site. His experience will not be effective.

Information architecture is an essential component of the experience, a site built with a clear and precise structure will promote navigation and thus the user experience.

In SEO strategies, FYI, UX is the best and important factors.

By acting directly on your content and their organization in your website, keywords and especially their relevance impact your visibility and therefore your traffic. You now understand why choosing your keywords efficiently is not a trivial act and you no longer have an excuse not to work on your semantic field.

In fact, choosing the right SEO services company can help you in this process and allow you to improve your natural referencing, which is the key to your success. Contact our SEO agency without further delay to discuss it.
