The noted NBA broadcaster, Craig Sager has passed away. He was suffering from leukemia for more than two years. He was a notable NBA reporter who was best identified by his colorful attire. He had been associated with the Turner family for more than 30 years. Due to his way of presentation coupled with his attire, he had become the face of TNT. Turner Broadcasting President Mr. David Levy has acknowledged his role and contribution to the channel that he has given all over the years. He will be best remembered for the interviews that he used to do with the NBA players and coaches.
Was a fighter till the end
Sager has faced his death with complete confidence. He did not let the fear of the deadly disease get over him. The fight that he undertook with the killer disease is also worth mentioning. Even in the difficult moments, his will power did not recede. It was his determination that made him fight strongly till his last days. He had vowed not to give him and had kept his word till the last. He believed in living life to the fullest and that is how he continued until the end.
He was respected by all
When he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, he did not conceal the fact that he was suffering from this disease. He had to take some time off in 2015 for pursuing treatment. He again came back on air in the month of December in the same year. He had been so popular that even one of the most notorious coaches such as Gregg Popovich acknowledged the capability of Sager. He told that he was interested in giving the interview only because of Sager and nothing else. He was overjoyed that Sager was back on the grounds.
He had received Jimmy V Award for Perseverance
Sager is survived by his wife Stacy and his five children. NBA Commissioner Mr. Adam Silver has spoken about his in-depth reporting and his incredible skills. Sager was bestowed upon with the award of Jimmy V Award for Perseverance at the ESPYs in July this year. The award was presented to him by the U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. Biden praised Sager for the courage that he displayed during the terminal moments. He will continue inspiring people to carry on in the most difficult moments. He will be remembered as one of the greatest presenters at the NBA Sports.
