Software Giant Yahoo Upgrades Its Mail App Using Fingerprint Technology

There have been occasions of data loss from the accounts of around 500 million users of Yahoo. Yahoo network had been hacked by miscreants to have done this in 2014. To create greater protection levels, the software giant has brought about up gradations in its mail app so that it can have enhanced security features. All the Android smartphone users can have a method of fingerprint scan of the user to allow the usage of the account. The update can be made using Google play store, as per the information from Yahoo goes. These changes have come specifically for using phones running on Android technology.

The app provides a preview tab

During the recent times, e-mail id account providers are facing the largest security issues. The miscreants are always on the prowl for breaking into the account by some means or another to collect confidential information. With the upgraded app, users can customize their passwords; alter the information of their account and the details of the contact using the app itself. They need not go into the main account to effectively do all these. A ‘Preview tab’ has been introduced by Yahoo, so that the users are able to see all the links or any videos that are there in the account with help of this app.

Fingerprint scan required for inbox access

Now, any person wanting to get access to the inbox has to undergo the fingerprint scan. If a person fails this test, he will be denied access to the account. Yahoo has also been constantly urging all its users to change their passwords and provide answers to more security questions to provide further protection to the account. The more different methods can be employed, the better it is for the users from preventing the miscreants into entering their accounts to get a clear access to all sorts of confidential information.

Awareness can lead to data protection

More of awareness in this field can help in lesser number of such data stealing instances. The data loss that has taken place from Yahoo accounts are not carried out by agencies that are state-sponsored. Though, initially it was thought to be so. The additional security features are sure to usher in an era of data security and Yahoo is among the first very few tech giants to use this kind of technology in the mobile apps. This will be very helpful in the preservation of banking or payment-card data as millions of people use the internet for online shopping purpose.
