No-Money Home Makeover Ideas

Are you planning to redefine your home? You probably think that you need to shell out money to buy new stuff. If you look closely, then you will understand that you have what you need. Here are a few tips to remake your home with what you own.

  1. Convert a quilt: If you have a simple-looking bed, then you can give it character. Use a quilt as a headboard. It can warm you up too.

  2. Use art: If you have a couple of paintings in frames, then use them to hide outlets and wires. If you layer the artworks, then you can create an extra bit of impact.

  3. Use plants: Non-working fireplaces are like black holes, but they aren’t as astounding as the ones in space. So, brighten it up with a potted plant. Choose something that doesn’t require much sunlight.

  4. Bracelets as napkin rings: Plastic bangles of different colors give dining tables a casual appearance. Metal ones, on the other hand, can bestow a formal outlook. If you want, then you can use pinned brooches along the length of the table runner. Choose to lean a place card in front of each.

  5. Ribbons on dressers: If you have been saving scraps from birthday parties, then use them now. Add them on the knobs of dressers of your child’s bedroom, stems of lamps or on the legs of tables.

  6. Painting: Now, you have a reason to pull out any old cans of leftover paint. Give your chairs a remake by painting its legs with the paint. After that, use that chair as a side table for books, pillows, extra blankets, etc.

  7. Wrapping paper: If there are plain shoeboxes or checkbook boxes lying around then use them. Turn them into colorful storage containers with wrapping paper. After that, use labels as tags on them.

  8. Wall décor: You don’t need an interior designer to deck up your walls. Hang as many paintings and pictures that you have. Though, you should set them on the floor before putting them up. It lets you decide whether one complements another or not.

  9. Plant herbs: You probably have loads of them stacked under your kitchen sink. So, use them by planting small potted herbs in those utensils. Choose various heights and add layers of pebbles at the bottom of each to ensure drainage.

  10. For toiletries: Everyone has a set of mismatching tableware which they can’t use. However, you can utilize them to store toiletries. Take a platter and place mismatched pieces of chinaware on them. They can include creamers, sugar bowls, etc.

  11. Shakers into vases: Yes, you can convert salt and pepper shakers into vessels to hold buds. Screw off the caps of the shakers and use the receptacles to showcase flowers on the bedside table.
